This is a new Chevrolet Performance 25161284 high pressure oil bypass valve for Big Block Chevy applications. It is commonly used on Mark V and Mark VI Big Block Chevy engines, including many 454 and 502 based combinations.
This bypass valve opens at approximately 30 psi pressure differential, compared to the lower pressure factory-style bypass valve. It is commonly used when the engine is equipped with an external oil cooler, sandwich adapter or remote oil filter setup where additional oil system restriction must be considered.
Chevrolet Performance / GM high pressure bypass valves are commonly used during engine rebuilds, oiling system service, block preparation and when configuring the oil filter pad area on Mark V/VI Big Block Chevy engines.
Important Fitment Information
This bypass valve is intended for compatible Big Block Chevy Mark V and Mark VI oiling system applications. It is not a universal bypass valve for every Chevrolet engine or every oiling system configuration.
Factory assembled 454 and 502 Mark V/VI engines can use bypass valves in the oil filter pad area. The correct bypass valve arrangement depends on whether the engine uses a stock oil filter location, external oil cooler passages or a remote oil filter setup.
